Located in southwestern Ohio, about 25 miles north of Cincinnati, is a large city known as Mason. It is positioned in Warren County and serves as the seat of government. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were approximately 33,037 people living in Mason. It is the 23rd largest city in Ohio.

Original inhabitants of southwestern Ohio were Native American Indians. In 1794, the Indians were removed from the area following the efforts of General Anthony Wayne. William Mason purchased 640-acres of land in the area for $1,700 at auction. The land is modern-day Mason. In 1815, he plotted land and established a village. The name of the village was Palmira. Following William Mason’s death, more land was plotted and in 1835 a petition to correct the name was sent to the federal post office. Shortly after, the name of the village was changed to Mason in honor of William Mason. In 1971, Mason became an incorporated municipality.
